Review: Solar Bullet by California Exotic Novelties

solar bullet 1I’m going to admit this right up front: I’m a recycling, eco-friendly, green-up-your-life kind of girl. I’ve been known to go to great lengths to recycle my stuff, & no green solution is too wacky for me to at least consider (composting toilet anyone?). So, naturally, when I saw a sex toy that was powered solely buy the sun, I couldn’t even help myself.

Fun in the Sun

The Solar Bullet by California Exotic Novelties is a great idea in theory. No batteries to change, no tangle of charging cords or cables. The solar pack easily detaches from the bullet so I can put it in the window & let the sun work its magic. True, it takes about 8 hours to charge for about 1 hour of use, but that doesn’t seem like such a big deal. I just leave the solar pack in the window whenever the bullet is not in use & it’s always ready for me.

More Stuff I Love

There are a couple of other cool things about this toy. First off, the speed controller is a sliding switch. In fact, it reminds me a whole lot of a dimmer switch. This means I have full control of the speed settings! If I want to speed up, then slow down a little, then speed up slowly, then slow down a lot.. the dimmer switch accomodates my every whim.

The second thing I love about the Solar Bullet is the little flashlight built into the tip. I mean, how cool is that? It’s great if you want to pull out the hand mirror and get a really good look at all of your sexy parts. It’s pretty bright for such a small light. I bet I could read with it at night if I ever decided to take this baby camping with me.

Another thing that I love about the Solar Bullet is the price. Inexpensive, non-toxic toys can be tricky to find. If you are looking for a body-safe vibe that won’t kick you squarely in the pocketbook, this is something you may want to consider.

Of Course, There is a Downside…

If you are expecting a super-powerful, super-rumbly, rattle-your-bones kind of vibe, you will be sorely disappointed. While it does have slightly more power than most bullet vibes I’ve tried, it’s still a bullet. And like most bullet vibes, it’s buzzy, not rumbly. For me, this is a dealbreaker. The shallow, buzzy vibrations can’t do anything except tease me a little. If I want to use this as a warm-up vibe only, then great. But, otherwise…..meh.

The Good

  • Solar Power! No batteries, no cords. Simply let it sit in the sun for 8 hrs.
  • Sliding switch from low to high power. You are in total control of all the speed nuances
  • Nifty little flashlight built into the end of the bullet
  • A little stronger vibration than the average bullet
  • Reasonably priced

The Bad

  • Buzzy, not rumbly
  • Not waterproof/splashproof
