Review: Detachable Pony Tail Plug by Crystal Delights

Maybe it’s just because I was such a fan of My Little Ponies as a child, but the thought of having my very own gorgeous, colorful pony tail to wear just thrills me to my very core. I adore this plug so much in fact, that I don’t even mind the little bit of extra work that goes into maintaining this stunning beauty.

My First Impressions

It’s a good thing that Crystal Delights takes so much care in packing their toys, because the post office REALLY mangled up the box it was delivered in. Luckily for me, and thanks to Crystal Delights’ packing techniques, my pony tail managed to survive this rough handling unscathed.

The pony tail itself comes neatly folded in a hairnet, and when I unwrapped the hairnet and shook that gorgeous curly tail loose, I was just OMFG bedazzled! Seriously, this is one of the most striking, aesthetic, and visually appealing plugs that I own. Each toy is indvidually handcrafted, and the quailty really shows.

The Pony Tail Plug feels just as good as it looks. Smooth, slick glass goes in easily, and for me the plug was just the right size and shape. It stays put just perfectly and is really quite comfortable to wear.

A Stroke of Genius

One of the very best things about the Pony Tail Plug is that the tail itself is detachable. This idea is just pure genius. For one thing, the detachable feature means that all of the gorgeous colored tails that Crystal Delights makes will just screw right into the base. I’m thrilled! I love the Ultra Purple color that I have, but I would love to just collect the whole set of colors and change them out as I please.

Even better, the detachable tail makes the plug MUCH easier to clean & disinfect. If you want to boil the plug or run it through the dishwasher, you can just simply unscrew the tail & you’re good to go with whatever cleaning method you choose.

Care & Maintenance

Now, as much as I love the Pony Tail Plug, there are a few things you should know about it first before you buy. The hair requires a bit of special maintenance in order to stay looking its best. For me, the extra effort is worth it. But I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t let you know what you were getting into.

So, without any more delay, let’s just dig right into the nitty gritty about how to properly care for this tail. Your first concern will be storage. You do not want to crush or bend your tail when you store it. You either need to find a way to lay it out flat or hang it. Also, you will need to find a way to cover the tail to protect it from dust and moisture.

You can wash your Pony Tail in cold water, but NEVER style it when wet. Using products specifically designed for synthetic hair will really work the best, and conditioning your tail will help keep it shiny. Don’t condition it too often though! Too much conditioning will cause product buildup.

Crystal Delights recommends that you detangle your tail using a wig brush. But don’t comb it too often! Excessive combing will damage the synthetic fibers.

I know the care sounds like quite a bit to take in, but don’t let it scare you off. This is just a fabulous, stunning toy and well worth the little bit of extra TLC.
